Chomp Chomp is a casual cafe tucked near the Canning College canteen on Marquis Street in Bentley, offering a slice of Singaporean and Malaysian flavour in a no-frills, canteen-style setting. Unlike a polished restaurant, the vibe here leans into communal, relaxed dining—perfect for a midday meet-up or a simple evening meal where the focus is all on the food without the fuss.

The seating area is spacious and functional, reminiscent of a school or workplace canteen, which means it’s slightly louder than a typical cafe but carries a sense of informal comfort. This aspect seems to resonate with locals who come for both quick lunches and weekend gatherings, especially families or groups that appreciate sharing large platters like the Combo B Chicken & Pork or the mix-and-match Chicken & Lamb options that cater well to groups of four to five.

The menu holds several highlights that attract fans of authentic flavours—Laksa, Mee Siam, Popiah, and the Bak Chor Mee Mee Pok stand out as staples. If you’re after a meal that reminds you of home-style cooking from Singapore or Malaysia, Chomp Chomp serves that well. Portions tend to be generous, making it a solid choice for both casual solo diners and larger groups. The roast pork and chicken dishes receive consistent appreciation for their tenderness and seasoning, while the laksa strikes a good balance of flavour with moderate spice.

Chomp Chomp’s setting means it’s less about linger-long-for-coffee moments and more about feeding cravings for familiar, hearty dishes with a speedy turnaround. The ambience is lively rather than intimate, so it's best suited for those looking for a straightforward, flavour-driven meal without a quiet or romantic atmosphere.

Visitors who enjoy sharing plates and sampling a variety of dishes will find the combo platters particularly convenient and good value, especially when accompanied by their included drinks. Weekends tend to bring a buzz with families and friends crowding in, while weekday lunches offer a steady stream of regulars, including students and staff from nearby institutions.

For anyone missing the specific tastes of Singaporean hawker fares or exploring Southeast Asian comfort food options in Perth, Chomp Chomp offers an approachable, grounded dining experience with straightforward service and honest portions—not just a quick bite, but a casual sit-down experience where the food is the main event.

First Visit on a Saturday evening, so ask staff for recommendations. I ordered Roast Pork Singapore Laksa and Teh Tarik to dine in and curry chicken Nasi Lemak to take away. Laksa taste flavorful and not too spicy, roast pork was tender and taste good. The Nasi Lemak rice, not my liking, not enough coconut milk and other spices aroma. Teh Tarik not my liking too, tea and condensed milk flavor not in it. When dine in, most food served in disposable utensils and cutlery. 4 star for the singapore laksa.

1st time trying here but have previously enjoyed the rendang from Nom Nom food truck so I knew what to expect. Today I was very impressed with the kaypoh mee - like a darker HKM as if the prawn shells were roasted longer for the broth. I think it just could have done with more garlic. The nasi lemak rice was spot on and the roast pork was too. It could have had more pork and less sweet sambal is all. Murtabak was also great with a cinnamon sardine curry sauce. There were plenty of free tables at midday on a Sunday and enough fans to cool the place down.

Food is tasty if you are missing the taste of home back in SG or Malaysia. Pricing is decent too with the portions relatively generous.

Located in canning college canteen where exit A is, chomp chomp has been a lovely surprise that brought back fond memories of Singapore when I was eating in a school canteen. Whilst it is not a restaurant setting, I really appreciated the hall setting as I sat with my partner eating really good food and just chatting. Going there in the day and in the evening felt so much different. In the day, it felt like Cambridge forum food court and in the evening felt like I was in a school camp retreat-like atmosphere. We had Singapore laksa, pork belly laksa, mee goreng, lamb Briyani and mince pork noodles. I couldn’t fault anything. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. The boss guy would walk around talking to customers, it was friendly but not imposing. He proactively added laksa sauce for me without me even asking. Such service is really rare nowadays. I finally found an amazing Singapore style mamak mee goreng in Perth but it’s the chef last day. That was really unfortunate for me. Lamb Briyani has the meat falling off the bone and it was so tender. Lastly the laksa was divine and the roast pork belly was cooked very well. I hope they will be here for long time. Well done and keep up the good work.

Love the food, service and big canteen to dine in weekends. Botak's mee goreng is legendary and only place I found Singaporean style carrot cake (chai tau kuey)! Love everything! Reasonable prices. Hidden gem. Thanks Kenneth, Glenn and Botak for the wonderful experience. Can book for functions too, up to 100pax.

We tried a Laksa and the mixed veggies with rice at this cozy spot, and overall, the meal was quite enjoyable. The Laksa had a rich, flavourful broth that was both comforting and aromatic, with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. The mixed veggies and rice were also a solid choice. Unfortunately, the okra was a bit too old, making it hard to chew and a bit tough, which detracted from an otherwise great dish. Despite this minor flaw, the overall taste was delightful, and the dishes were satisfying. With a bit of attention to the quality of some of the ingredients, this could easily be a perfect meal.

Generous food portion. This kitchen caters for both Asian and Indian food. I like coconut based curry chicken. Open to the public, and lunch only on Saturday and Sunday. Clean and well maintained food court. About 10 to 15 car parking lots. Quiet environment.

Situated in the Canning College Cafeteria this Singaporean duo plus one cook and serve a delicious variety of hot dishes including made on the spot Popiah, Mee Goreng, Curry Laksa, Roti Canai. When not feeding students during the week they offer the same fare to the general public during lunch and dinner on the weekends. We enjoyed the no frills dining experience, warm friendly service and unlimited time in this spacious cafeteria. A welcome respite from the faster paced high table turnover found in other eateries. Large groups would not be disappointed.
